Wendover

So my adorable sisters and I decided we needed a break from the Christmas and work craziness so we headed to Wendover for the weekend. On the way out we stopped in SLC and ate at the Cheesecake Factory...and thank goodness we loved it because the wait for a table was about an hour! We got to Wendover late and since there isn't a ton to do in the tiny town, we decided to learn how to play craps. The people were really nice to us beginners and taught us the tricks and we actually won a little money. But as our dad was praying for...we lost everything that we won the next day! He said he didn't want us to win so we wouldn't make it a habit of going there!
Oh parents, they always know what is best!

It was definitely more fun to just hang out with my sisters then to actually gamble and it was nice to have a quick and cheap getaway! Thanks Cindy and Linsey for the good times and memories-Love ya! Here are some of the fun photos.

Halloween

The best Halloween couple costume Ever! Sean was Nacho Libre and I of course am Sister Encarnación. Sean was riding Nick and Linsey's go-cart around the neighborhood yelling "NACHOOOOOOO". The neighbor kids loved it but its a good thing Nick is a cop in Tremonton or we might have had a little trouble! Then we went to a party at Rick and Anna's and had a dance-off in her dance studio. Well the dance-off turned into wrestling. Thank goodness Anna has some tumbling mats. Those guys are too old to be doing this! haha

The Adoption Story You Will Never Believe

Here's a warning, Sean and I look back at this story and don't even believe it-so trust me, we know what you are thinking when you read this. We are totally planning on selling this to "Lifetime" and making a movie because it fits their normal plot...CRAZY.

Sean and I met with a sweet woman that had an incredible story about 4 weeks ago. She had cancer and had only a few months to live. She had twin boys that were 4.5 months old. We met with her and two weeks later received that amazing phone call from her one Saturday morning. She wanted us to meet with her that afternoon where she told us she had chosen us to raise her boys. It was a whirlwind from there. I actually wanted to be in the baby isle at Target...I haven't wanted to face that isle for five years! We drove her to California the next week to meet the father of the babies. We learned everything we could about her, and she had so many pictures of her babies. I immediately fell in love with them and was so excited to raise them as my own.

We even attended their wedding in Vegas and we paid for everything because we couldn't believe the decision this woman was making for us. (yep, even the honeymoon suite--$50-- at the Stratosphere!) We were so excited to spend this time with her, just think of the things we could tell her children someday. We were supposed to get these boys last Thursday, but Tuesday night everything fell apart. We were SO crushed to find out this horrible person had made the whole story up. There is no cancer and there are no babies. What a terrible thing to do to a couple that has wanted a child for so long. We are going through LDS Family Services and couldn't believe they had let this happen to us. But they just fell for the same crazy story that we did. It has been a hard adjustment to ride this adoption roller-coaster. I guess the good thing out of all this is that we were rushed through the approval process and are online for birth-moms to view.

My amazing boss sent us to Hotel Park City for the week to get away from everything. My sweet best buddy Randi came with me for a couple days since Sean wanted to get some work done at the store. Of course, Sean surprised me and showed up the first night. Randi and I made him sleep on the couch :) We spent time shopping and enjoyed a spa day. It was so nice to get away and begin the mourning process. It was strange to me that I had fallen in love with these sweet babies that I had never met...and that didn't even exist. We know when we finally get a sweet child to raise that we won't take one moment for granted.

We are SO grateful to all our family and friends who have helped us through this hard time. We love you!

Snake River Rafting With the Boys!

I went river rafting on the Snake River yesterday with some crazy boys. All the wives are pregnant and Sean was working on moving the store to its new location...sot it was me, Brent, Brant, Chuck and Dan. I was one of the dudes....which meant that I had to cliff jump and be tough too! We rode the river twice which was about two hours each. Here are some pics and video. The water was low, so I can only imagine what this is like in the spring. It was a blast! Thanks for letting me crash the "Boys Adventure" guys!

Here is an action photo-this was at lunch counter-crazy!

And here is the video of the same place. Pardon Brent's camera skills-he was supposed to be guiding us through the rapids-but he was taking video instead! Good job Brent! :) The second video is us going in circles until we all got sick!

And of Course Cliff Jumping- Yep I am the one that jumps feet first while Dan and Brent are showoffs as you can see below!

Wolf Creek Vacation with Barfuss Family

This week we went to Wolf Creek with my family. Mom and Dad rented a cabin that somehow had enough room for the whole family. We played in the pool, played volleyball, golfed and went fishing. Here are some photos of the golfing adventure. Notice there are houses all the way along the course just asking to be hit with my golf ball. However, I did get lucky and as far as anyone can tell, I didn't hit any of them!

We did have one injury on the trip this year. (You may recall that poor Dad broke his nose playing raquetball last year...I won't tell you who hit him...Linsey! heehee) The neices and nephews were playing baseball on the Wii and poor Wade got hit in the face and knocked out half of his tooth. All he said was "who said video games aren't violent" it was so funny. He had to have a route canal done the next day, but he was back that night eating candy and acting like normal, so he was quite the trooper. If the injuries keep happening Dad might rent us a padded room next year...but I bet we could still find a way to get hurt.

WEEK OF FUN!

I know, I can't believe it either...another post from me! Sean and I had the most fun week ever last week! I thought I would share with all of you that were stuck at work. hee hee

We started the week with our co-ed softball team. We have been playing for a few months now, and we are ranked #2. We are hoping to pull out a victory in tournament next week. Here's some pics. I play pitch and Sean plays first. We have a great time!

Then Tuesday morning we were off to Twin Lakes with the Schwartz family. (Thanks Nate and Sarah!) Sean wakeboarded and surfed while I enjoyed the sun. You all know that me and water are not friends. I choose to stay in the boat and away from the slimy fish YUCK! We were just planning on staying the day because Sean had a softball tournament that night, but unfortunately they lost the first game so we thought we would head back up and stay the night. Oh, we should have thought that through, we didn't have any stuff so we stopped at Marilyn's to steal her air mattress and blankets. We really thought it was going to be a great night's sleep in the back of the truck...but the mattress quickly lost air and we were "taco-ed" all night long. It was miserable! Ah well. It's all part of the experience I guess! Here are some good videos of Sean wakeboarding and surfing.

On Friday it was time for the annual Barfuss family 24th celebration. We played on the slip and slide, volleyball and of course ladder golf. Here are some photos of the good times. My family is fun, what can I say?

Then it was off to Bear Lake for the rest of the weekend. Poor Randi isn't feeling so hot, so Sean and I took Gavin for the day on Saturday. We went to the park, to get a milkshake and then to Blue Water to see his "dadda". That night we went on this mountain bike trail that Brent has always talked about. It was INSANE! Here are some crazy pics. My legs were on FIRE and we had to follow a herd of cattle for a bit...and they were VERY sick cows...lets just leave it at that.

The next day we went on a 4-wheeler ride and enjoyed the scenery and had a great time!

So hard to come back to work to emails and employee issues, but such is the life of Human Resources!
